Micromax launches Canvas Music A88 with JBL Tempo headset for Rs 8,499

After launching the stylus-toting Canvas Doodle targetted at the creative folk, Micromax has launched a new smartphone Canvas Music A88 for Rs 8,499. With a name like that, the phone is definitely targetted at those who care about the quality of music. To this end, the company is throwing in a free JBL Tempo headset with the Canvas Music A88, a combination the company says “promises superior sound entertainment on the go.”

In terms of specifications, the Canvas Music cannot compete with the likes of the Doodle or Canvas HD, but for its price, we expected as much. There’s a 4.5-inch display of unspecified resolution. In terms of processing power, the Canvas Music should chug along fine thanks to the 1GHz dual-core processor. On the back, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. A 0.3-megapixel unit resides on the front. We don’t have word from the company about the internal storage, but there’s a microSD card slot that can take in cards up to 32GB in capacity.

Micromax claims the 1800 mAh battery should offer a talk time of 5 hours. Interestingly, the company says users can download unlimited songs thanks to the MLive app pre-loaded on the phone.

Speaking about the new launch, Mr. Ajay Sharma Country Head - Smartphone Division, Micromax, said “Canvas Music A88 coupled with JBL headset and unlimited songs download via MLive! Application serves as a perfect offering to the youth echoing our vision of providing a fulfilling entertainment experience to all the music and multimedia lovers. Through our latest device, we aim to further build the Canvas success story to unprecedented heights.

The Canvas Music A88 will be available across retail outlets from May 16 and can be purchased on the company’s website too.
