Gionee launches 5.3-inch, quad-core Gpad-G2 for Rs 13,990

Gionee has added a dual-SIM phablet to its smartphone portfolio. The GPad0G2 is a 5.3-inch smartphone and is available for Rs 13,990 in India. It is 9.9 mm thick and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor of unknown make.

The phone has a qHD display—it has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, which is exactly one quarter of a full HD (1080p) frame, in a 16:9 aspect ratio. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, so the interface should be smooth and without too much lag. The GPad-G2 has dual-standby functionality that augments its dual-SIM support and lets the phone receive calls and messages from both the SIM cards at the same time. The phone also has a 3G antenna, so you can use an HSPA connection with it.

The Gionee Gpad-G2 will be available sometime this month

The GPad-G2 has 4GB of internal storage space besides a microSD card slot that should support cards up to 32GB in size. Gionee is giving away a 16GB microSD card with the phone, so you shouldn’t face any problems when it comes to storage space.

On the imaging front, the GPad-G2 has an 8 megapixel auto-focus camera accompanied by an LED flash at the back. For video-chatting and self shots, there’s a 2 megapixel front-facing camera with face-detection feature and the ability to record videos at a resolution of 720p.

The GPad-G2 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery, which should enable the phone to last through the day if Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G data connections are used with prejudice. Gionee says the phone has an inbuilt Digital Theatre System(DTS) that will deliver an “enhanced multimedia experience”. And like most other smartphones available today, this one also bundles some apps, including Facebook, NQ Security, YouTube and Twitter.

The GPad-G2 is available in grey or white colours and comes with a “Navigation Flip” case and a screen guard.
