If you thought that the Micromax A116 Canvas HD flaunting a quad-core processor at an attractive price point had been expecting to sweep the market single-handedly, we have news for you.
Karbonn Mobiles has just announced a couple of quad-core offerings — the Titanium S5 and Titanium S1 — at an even lower price point. However, unlike Micromax's flagship phone, these two come with a qHD display (pixel dimensions of 540x960) instead of the HD display (720x1280) found on the Canvas HD. Both, S5 and S1 are dual-SIM smartphones, equipped with a quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM each, and running Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS out of the box. What sets the two apart is the screen size and the number of megapixels on the rear camera. While the Titanium S5 has a 5" display and an 8 mp camera, the Titanium S1 sports a 4.5" screen and a 5 mp snapper. Understandably, the price of the former is a bit higher at Rs 12,000 and that of its younger sibling is Rs 10,300.
We have been informed that the phones are currently available exclusively on Snapdeal.com. The price of both the Karbonn models is quite aggressive and should rouse interest among masses looking for a low cost quad-code Jelly Bean smartphone.

Though the pricing of the S5 and S1 is a few thousand Rupees lower than the Micromax A116 Canvas HD (priced at Rs 14,000), the latter can breath easy for now, thanks to it's higher resolution display. But these Karbonn offerings will surely be snapping at the heels of the newly launch XOLO Q800 which has similar specifications and is priced marginally higher than the S5. We assure you that the war of these affordable quad-core phones has just begun. It won't be long before the big brands start to feel the heat.
