ASUS MeMO Pad ME172V 7" Tablet Launched For Rs 10,000

ASUS MeMO Pad ME172V 7" Tablet Launched For Rs 10,000

In a price-sensitive market such as India, Asus has become the second top tier brand to deliver a sub-10,000 tablet in the form of its MeMO Pad ME172V. Previously, Acer had introduced the ICONIA B1 for the budget-crowd at a price of Rs 8000.

The Asus MeMO Pad ME172V tablet's 7" display has pixel dimensions of 1024x600. It runs on Android 4.1 out of the box, and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. The specifications include 8 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The complete list of tech specs is below:
7" screen at resolution of 1024x600.
10-point Multi-touch display interface.
1 GHz processor with a Mali 400 GPU.
1 GB of RAM.
8 GB internal storage (16 GB variant is also available).
expandable up to 32 GB through micro SD card.
1 Megapixel front camera (with BSI) capable of recording 720p HD resolution videos.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm audio jack.
5 GB of Cloud Storage with Asus Web Storage.
Inbuilt apps such as Asus WebStorage Online Office, SuperNote Lite, Asus WebStorage.
Android 4.1 operating system.
4270 mAh battery with claimed 7 hour back up.

The tablet is priced at Rs 10,000, and will be available in Titanium Grey, Sugar White, and Cherry Pink.

Going by the specs, the Acer B1 still remains cheaper with its 1 GHz dual-core CPU. With recognised brands entering the budget tablet space, I think it's a tough ride ahead for the rebranded Chinese tablets.
